    Dish reccomendations- Nottinghamshire

    Hello!

After buying a 500c, my parents and parents-in-law were so jealous they want one, but they can only receive satellite.

My parents have an existing sky mini dish, I suppose i just simply buy a 500s for them and flash it with the latest DK image for that unit?

My parents-in-law do not have a dish and would need to buy one so... They are looking to spend roughly ?50 on the dish (and any other equiptment needed, not including the signal meter) and then i would just buy them a 500s. So do you have any recomendations for the dish + related harware in that price range?

Also is there a particular satellite they should be aiming for from this region?

    Regards

    Hi
Firstly, they won't get anywhere near as many viewable channels on Sat that you can get on Cable, encryptions are much tighter and varied on Sat. ie Seca, Seca2, Viaccess, Irdeto, Biss, Conax, Nag2, (Nag3, just in so not hacked yet)
Not much at all left worth bothering about on Astra19 or Hotbird13, or even Astra28 unless you have a subbed card from Uncle Rupert. The 3 above Sats would be ok for just viewing the FTA (Free To Air) channels.
There is a decent film package on Thor @ 1deg west (Nag2 encryption ATM) but from the Midland UK you really need around a 1 metre dish with a decent LNB on it.
Make sure they understand the limitations of Sat TV especially if only pointing to, or having a fixed dish on one Satellite.
I enjoy it because I have a motorised dish so have a big selection of Sats to go to.

First of all..to receive all sky channels you would need a sub..the encryption used is not hacked unlike cable who are still using nagra1..
However on satellite you will get much more then cable with a motor, technomate5400 and a diablo cam or m2card..but how long these packages including cable will stay open is unpredictable...

Read the Rules here; they apply to Everyone.
