DarkStar II DM500s - Dead Box?

Hey guys, I'm trying to help a friend fix his DM500s...

What happened was, he uploaded the 28.2 bouquets, using dreamedit... and now the box is just flashing the DarkStar boot screen continuously.

Because he doesnt have a null modem cable, we tried to connect via ethernet using dreamup, to reflash the box with PLi. But when entering what we believe to be the IP address of the box, we get a message saying "device alive, but may not be a dreambox" or something along them lines, and the flash button does not light up?

Any ideas on a fix for the box?

I have had this problem with darkstar11
I have sometimes been able to connect using telnet
(need to no ip address of dm)
and then flash through telnet (how to sticky in dreambox cable section) if not need a null modem cable

just a point I have found that I have a lot of problems transfering bouquets to darkstar11 image for some reason

So I use the NabiloDM500-V08-MaxVar image and have no problems trasferring bouquets to the image
