Dm500s Questions

Right, where to start.
McMav told me about these wonderful dreambox things, I told a friend, he went out and bought one (didnt read up on them first I'm guessing)
Aannnyway, he cant get his Sky to work properly, I had a faf with it and its getting signal and theres some random ITV channels that seem to work, the rest wont work.
Spoke to McMav and he informed me that Sky hasnt been "cracked" or something to that effect and tells me to sign up here.

So here I am.

Now this 500s box will ultimately be going to France where the friend can use it to watch TV, but, what can he watch and what will need to be done to the box in order for it to work, I've got an old Sky dish on the wall outside my house and the rents have a newer Sky dish on there house so I cna get signal to it and faf about if needed.

Any hints tips etc on getting this thing to work in France will be gratefully accepted

Well before we talk about opening channels and loading software on to your receiver, you are not going to get anything with a fixed mounted sky minidish all you will receive are the Freesat channels, the only way to get Sky is to buy a subscription or cardshare with someone who has a dreambox and Sky subscription.

To set up a Dreambox to receive hundreds of channels and open scrambled channels you will need a motorised Satellite Dish to pick up other Satellites broadcasting using weaker encryption than Sky / NDS.

I dont think there is any point giving much more information untill you get at least a bigger Satellite Dish or at least pointing in the right direction.

Most of the Members here using Emulators and Keys on there Dreambox are pointing to Thor @ 0.8 West to pick up Digitv.

We tried using the card that was out of his Skybox but that still didnt give us anything new, that what you mean by cardsharing?

I can manually move the dish I have at mine as its not hugely far off the floor but for him to use in France then I'll tell him to get a different dish.
Is there a rough guide to shifting it about manually?

Ok you have a sky Card ? and you wish to share it between a few people over the internet and share the subscription ?

If this is the case unfortunately Cardsharing discussion is not allowed since rule changes on this fourm back in December.

Google it is the best way forward.

As for Emulation and keys, Load a Image to your receiver using DDC setup your communication settings,attach a lan cable from your router, go to addon Manager and download a Cccam of your choice, go to Cam & Download keys, restart your cam and you will be clearing channels if your satellite dish is facing certain satellites such as Thor 0.8 west.

By loading a Cccam you will be able to use your Sky card on your Dreambox receiver, If you need more details let us know.

No not bothered in sharing the card, we tried the Sky card in the 500s and it still wouldnt work, I'm guessing due to it not having this cccam thing you mention.

I'll have a poke about with it 2nite and see if I can get this ccam on it and go from there.
