    Setting up Motorised Dish with Dm500S and Commando v14

    Please Help! I am attempted to set up a motorised dish remotely for a friend using the above set up. Where do i start ive read through many post and understand that it has to be done via the services menu?

    Thanks

    main menu > service > service scan > diseqc = diseqc 1.2
    motor settings > use gotoxx = on
    enter your current location

    if not using gotoxx then you need to set the stored positions on your motor against the sat list in the motor settings menu.

    e.g.
    if Astra 28.2E is stored in position 1 on your motor then set
    Astra 28.2 = 1
    if Thor 2/3 0.8W is stored in position 8 on your motor then set
    Thor 2/3 0.8W = 8

        if remotely you mean via PC link then you would have to access the webcontrol and do it via that with the virtual remote

          ftp download /var/tuxbox/config/scan.conf

          if using usals/gotoxx edit these settings in scan.conf using a unix compatible editor, adding your dish lat-long:

          diseqcMode=5
          gotoXXLatitude=51.48738
          gotoXXLongitude=0.327157
          useGotoXX=1

          OR

          if using the stored sat positions in the motor instead of usals/gotoxx just edit:
          diseqcMode=5

          then as an example look for SatName[] for Astra 28.2E, this is currently SatName20
          insert the relevant position stored on motor for this sat eg.
          satMotorPos20=3

          ftp edited scan.conf back to box and reboot box

            Now that's what I call top quality input from LraiZer, considering he doesn't even have a motorized setup!!!

              hello again right i think i'm getting somewhere if you go to DiSEqc settings there is a list of satellites if i change the satellite in there from off to 1 then go into motor settings there is also a list of satellites in there so if i change the same satellite from off to on then put in lat and long positions in for that sat.then save then scan it will move the dish and scan and it will find channels and even tell me the provider but when the scan is finished it says no channels found but if you scroll through channels it will tell me what is on the channel and at the bottom of the screen it says sig 77%,snr 77% ber 6%( this is an example ) but the screen is black and no sound any ideas ??

                lets try just using the usals ONLY option to start with. first set DiSEqc= 1.2 then turn off all the sat lists you changed in both lists so we know we are starting clean. if your motor has been setup correctly then this is your easiest option.

                goto "google maps" in your web browser, zoom into your house where your dish is mounted. right-mouse click on your dish postition and select "Whats Here?" now hover over the new green arrow and make a note of the lat long position. ignore any minus sign in longitude. enter these latitude longitude in the gotoxx settings and turn gotoxx=on.

                scanning and zapping should now auto move to correct sat location without needing to enter any other settings.
