Which box is better value for money, and is easier to configure, there is only a 10quid price difference so which should I get.

If you want a box for only watching channels, then its got to be the openbox. Good picture,easy to set up and ideal for the parents.Comment

If you want experiment with the box then go for the dreambox. Its a linux box so has that capability of messing around with it.
You will be pulling your hair out at times, lose sleep and have plenty of fun along the way
