backup image problem

hi guys,
i'm trying backup image on my dm500 using Telnet but here is a problem.
When command window appear i can type user (root) but it doesn't let me type password i mean the word password appear but can't type anything, Why is that and is there any difrent way to backup image?

what are you using for telnet. I use dreambox control centre and it automatically logs me in. You can go into the dm500 menu using remote control and back up image. It will be backed up to the temp folder, so you then need to ftp the img from temp folder to your pc/laptop

when you type the password in telnet....it wont show....but press enter after you put the password in and if correct will work...
