Hi,
I want to buy a dream box 500s to receive the channels for free. What else do I need to get for the box to work i.e do I need a sim card or do I just need upload software to the box for it to work?
I’ve got a DB 500c for my cable TV, and I use Digital world program to get all the channels for free. Can I just buy a DB 500s and do the same or do I need to buy other things?

First which program channels and Satellites do you want or hope to ''receive the channels for free' from?
I wouldn't jump in and buy a dm500s untill you have done a lot more research/reading/searching, about what you will be able to view with it, and how you plan to view with it.
At best you will need a steerable dish to get anywhere near as many channels clear as with your dm500c.

On satellite Sky is not hacked so ifyou want to recive Sky channels than you will need to subscribe or you will need to cardshare. If you are wondering about cardsharing than you will need to google as cardsharing talk is not allowed on the forum.
