I bought a dreambox 5oos off eBay, never used sat side of things only cable pre N3.
Connected to sat and all seemed working loads of Asian channels (not sure if some of the channels were ppv?) I never backed up what was on the box I just flashed the latest pli image on box , scanned, got all fta channels then tried to connect to dcc
I.ve been trying for days to connect and network my dm 500s to computer / dcc and also update menu and addons through the internet. Here is what I?ve found so far:
My router won?t find box with DHCP, so I set an ip address in box with name server (found number from router? Not sure if right? ) and gateway, (I used router ip ?? think that?s right)?..in dream cc I got a green line between pc, router and dm500 dcc says checking network, (some times says ?Error10057 in function send socket not open??).. next says telnet connected?.ftp connected then says ?ftp component not ready?
If I try to update dm500 menu comes back server down or you have no internet connection?
Software upgrade window in dm500 is empty bottom of screen says ?can?t resolve hostname?
I?ve tried core ftp le ,filezilla and fireftp. Either timed out or ftp component not ready
I read loads of fixes but don?t seem to be getting anywhere.
I have a crossover cable but couldn?t work out, how to use it (thought I could just connect dm500 and pc and they would find each other through ftp program (not).
Hope someone can help as I have no networking knowledge and need step by step guide, some say set static ip on pc?? But found that confusing.
I emailed the guy who sold me the box and said to let him know how I get on and seems genuine that the box was working? I think I may be missing some small detail and that one of you knowledgeable people can help me with.
