dm500s connection problems

setup new dm500s for brother at mine and it was working fine, when it was taken to his home it could not get a connection, we are using homeplugs which have run kv boxes at mine with no problem, have read other posts on here where people are having the same problem, his bb is virmin and he has one of there modem routers, other posts suggest reflashing with another img, which i have done, switched to new commando 14.6, still no joy, any ideas would be welcome, thanks

Im guessing the router at your house is different from your friends?
You need to go into network settings and change the ip address of the box and change the gateway ip address to match the router,
Another option is to change the nameserver to match Virgins nameserver which is 194.168..4.100

thanks andy, yes different bb, so disable dhcp ,setup box with new ip address, change the gateway ip address to match the router, i think the router is 192.168.2.1, so set it as the same, is that right, thanks

As a rule if you use a static ip and make up your own ip for the dreambox it should mirror the ip of the router barring the last digits.
If the routers ip is 192.168.2.1 this is normally the gateway ip and the nameserver ip.

When you choose to make the Dreambox ip choose a large number at the end like .100 so you wont get any ip conflicts with any other wireless devices like ipods xbox live.

So make the dreambox ip as 192.168.2.100 and have dhcp switched off and use 192.168.2.1 as gateway and nameserver.

If this still doesnt work try the 192.168.4.100 as the nameserver you sometimes have to do this with Virgin for some reason.

Thats ok mate people make the assumption taking a box from one house to another it will work it will if you have the same router but if ones a Netgear and another is a Belkin they have slightly different ip addresses for the routers if you see my point so the network has to be changed in network settings on the box,
