    commando 14.6 help

    Hey guys,

Yesterday I picked up a dm500s to use as a second box in my home

Took it out the box today and flashed commando 14.6 onto it with no problems.

Connected my satellite cable and went to do a service scan:

    Settings are:

Scan for services: tv & radio
    bouquet: update

    DiSEqC: no DiSEqC
    Satellite: Astra 28.2E

    Scan Modes: All Sat
    Fast Scan: off
    Auto Scan: on

When I click start scan it says "Transponderscan failed" ---- "Error no channels were found, please execute a scan, (dbox-key -> service")

Any idea whats wrong here guys? Are my settings correct?

Also when i downloaded the commando image there was a file called libcrypto.so.0.9.7 but i'm not sure what it does, where it goes and do i need it (hope someone can shed some light on this)

I basically need to know how to perform a successful scan on 28.2, get CCcam installed and setup the bouquets and EPG

I have read some on the commando image threads on here but cant find some of the answers i'm looking for

    Any help greatly appreciated guys

I have been off the dm500 scene for quite some time

    Thanks in advance

    Monty

From what you describe you dont need the extra file.

I would reflash, then run the autobouquets wizard, should setup all the channels for you. For epg run the GETEPG wizard.

There is documentation included within the image explaining all this in greater depth, including details on setting up cccam.

You can then run the GETEPG wizard at anytime you like to refresh the content, or set it on a timer to do it at for example 5.30 am when no one is watching.

If peeps can't even be bothered to read the Release Notes when they download Commando 14.6 - then there ain't much hope in them reading the Help docs included with the Image, either! First three paragraphs of our Release Notes:
      --------------------------------------------------------------------

Commando 14.6 DM500 Release is finally here!

      What's new?

A library of readme docs explaining all the below, and much more
but sadly, nobody ever reads them. We've made it as easy as possible, with all docs linux formatted for comfortable local viewing on your telly with Tuxbox Commander from the Blue button, so go on- have a browse, please, yes? The docs folder is the default right pane in TuxCom, just arrow Up or Down to hilite the doc, then press OK to view it. Or read via FTP in the /var/etc/info folder.

      Set My Location 2-3-1
set your location in three easy steps. Yes, we've taken care of our cousins over there on the Emerald Isle too! If you're in the London region, which is default for the stream channels, you can skip this one, coz 14.6 is London out of the tin. Please see the readme for more info

      AutoBouquets
if this doesn't sway users away from DMUK or FlipFlop bouquets and services, then we give up! 12 minutes spent (which can be automated on a daily Plugin Timer while you're fast asleep) and everything is bang up to date and 100% accurate, pulled down directly from the 28.2E stream! See the readme please, as this is highly customizable as well.
      -----------------------------------------------------------

Now, I'd say that makes it pretty damned clear that the very FIRST job on a new install is to Set My Location surely? And THEN to run AutoBouquets

You don't really need to go into the Scan Menu and do a manual Scan any more. Not when you can autorun Autobouquets on a Daily Timer, so your services and bouquets are ALWAYS bang up to date!

And you're better off having Autoscan set to OFF too!

      Cheers- AL

        thanks for the replies fellas

Al i read in another one of your posts on DK that to set my location press:

        blue>blue>yellow

When i try this it does nothing, just displays a blank timer list

I will try a reflash when i can get to my mates house later in the week (I have no serial port on my computer)

Can someone please tell me what is the libcrypto.so.0.9.7 file for and where do i put it

        cheers

libcrypto.so.0.9.7 file is only needed if you use a camd other than ccam
you can reflash useing the remote put 14.6.img in temp.

You've got a different C14.6 to the one we designed, then!

BLUE > YELLOW = Timer List

BLUE > BLUE > YELLOW = Set My Location & AutoBouquets

The Softcam section of the General Hints and Tips doc clearly states that the 'loose' libcrypto provided is only for mgcamd and evocamd users.

            Cheers- AL

              thanks for your reply al.

I have the dreambox here in front of me and blue>blue>yellow doesn't work for me

When i initally press blue it displays the "features" screen

When i press blue the second time the "features" screen just disappears and im left with the commando 14.6 logo

Then when i press yellow it displays "event list overview"

              Any ideas?

              Thanks again for your input

              Cheers

Regarding reflashing, you dont need a serial cable. You can ftp the image to the tmp directory on the box and then run it from one of the menus, look for "image upgrade/backup". I think it is in the service menu from memory.

When you press BLUE and get the Features Menu, the hilite bar should already be on BLUE - EPG & AutoBouquets Wizard. Do you see that item? if yes, what happens when you press the OK button to select it?

If the features menu still vanishes, then I'd say you have a corrupt image flash. A reflash should do the trick.

IMPORTANT NOTE: when reflashing from /tmp via the Service Menu, ALWAYS reboot the box first (to clear memory).

And if you have GetEPG or RT-EPG set to load at boot, disable this feature before rebooting and reflashing!!!

                  Cheers- AL

when i press ok on the EPG & Auto bouquets wizard the menu still vanishes

Also the box will not connect to my network and it says network test failed so i think your correct that it must be a bad flash

Will try a reflash and see what happens

                    Cheers Al

error 10057 usually means you have entered the wrong ip address in dcc or you have a problem with the box's network settings. Re flash with a serial cable.

CCcam is not included, easiest option is to extract cccam and cccam config from another image using dcc.
