Dreambox 500 Gemini 4.6

Hi,

I'm having a few problems after upgrading from Gemini 4.0 to 4.6.

1. The box stops on the Gemini Logo after a reboot. I have to press the channel or menu keys to get it to do something. How can I make it go to a channel? I have tried setting the default channel, but it seems to ignore it.

2. After every reboot the boc starts using Common Interface instead of CCcamd. How can I get it to default to CCcamd?

hi..

are you sure your box is genuine..?? if its a clone Gemini will kill it.. Have you just bought it..?? Dream Multimedia haven't made the D500 for over 2 years now so if its a new one it'll b a clone..

To be safe don't use anything higher than Gemini 4.2 on a new or second hand D500..

I've been using Gemini 4.2 for over 2 years, my box is genuine but i cant see a need to update the image.. I've never had a problem and i can clear all channels... The magic is in your EMU and other things not the image..!

I have that problem with the way you restart it. If you restart it from a power cycle it will do that. but if you set it up the way you like. then do a restart from the gemini menu. It will then save your settings even after a power cycle. Hope this helps.

Thanks Opsmonkey, however (A) it is a genuine DM500 and (B) 4.6 does not have the Clone check in it - I think they stopped it at 4.3, 4.3.1 had it removed and anything higher too.

Thanks PS2Cipher. That's most bizarre!

I was rebooting by using either (a) the power cycle or (b) telnet and issuing "reboot" command. Neither option saved the service.

Just issued the reboot from the Menu/Shutdown screen, and it came back up straight to the service I had chosen. You are a star!

By the way, after this, once the startup service was set, I then used telnet to issue a reboot. This time it still held the setting, so once stored via a "menu/shutdown/reboot" it does stay set.

This behaviour is true of both the latest Pli (Jade) image and Gemini (4.6) image. Hmmm.

Would still love to know WHY it behaves this way though, and where the actual startup service info is stored.

Yes but personally for me on a 500 nothing compares to a OpenPli image.
