DM500 Start-up Service (Channel) not working

    Hi,

I have installed my DM500-S. It works ALMOST perfectly. EVERYTHING is working on it - except it will not 'remember' the channel to start on.

I've done the "Press Menu" and select "Reset Start-Up Service" and "Set as Start-up Service" monkey business, but still, whenever the box is rebooted it just sits at the enigma startup logo until I press TV and select a channel.

Where is the setting that "Set as Start-up Service" should set. I will take a look and see if I can set it manually.

Any ideas / help / suggestions welcome.

    Thanks.

hi mate.. ive never used this facility.. i do though change my channel to Nova Sports 2 before i turn my box into standby.. then when i turn it back on via remote it stays on Nova Sports 2..

Even on the rare occasions when i reboot my box it defaults back to Nova Sports 2.. It did use to default back to Premieire Sports Portal but i haven't watched that for a long time so it may default back to the most watched channel...

Do you regularly mains power off your box..??
It doesn't work its 'magic' when its powered off but it does when in standby

I have got BBC1 on 28.2E set as my default channel and even if power my box it comes back to that channel on startup. Maybe the channel you have selected is encrypted and your box maybe refusing to display properly until the channel clears.

Thanks everyone, I have now got the solution from a few people - although only the 'How' and not the 'Why' ! (I'll settle for just the 'HOW' for now though :-)

I was rebooting by using either (a) the power cycle or (b) telnet and issuing "reboot" command. Neither option saved the service.

I just issued the reboot from the Menu/Shutdown screen instead, and it came back up straight to the service I had chosen.

By the way, after this, once the startup service was set, I then used telnet to issue a reboot. This time it still held the setting, so once stored via a "menu/shutdown/reboot" it does stay set.

This behaviour is true of both the latest Pli (Jade) image and Gemini (4.6) image. Hmmm.

Would still love to know WHY it behaves this way though, and where the actual startup service info is stored.

        Thanks again.
