Dm500-S Switching channels Blank

Okay so im really new to this, Ive looked around the forums and haven't found someone who has a similar problem i have so when i turn on my dm500-s it works fine the channel shows up but as soon as i switch to another channel all i would get is black screen (Ive also waited for it to load but doesn't) and to fix this what im doing is holding the power button on my remote control and restarting the enigma after this is done it would load up the channel and starts working, it gets really annoying having to restart it every time i change channels so does anyone have any idea what could be the problem? and help me to reach a solution?

Maybe try another cam version. Try skipping up a channel and back.

Sorry for asking but how can i switch cam versions? and when i skip up a channel and then back the channel i go back to works fine but the channel i skip up to is black as always.

I would reflash you box m8 as image has likely gone corrupt, remmember to back up the likes of your cfg file.

Okay so if i reflash it will all the channels be lost? I dont want to loose anything because i would have no clue on how to set it up again :\ also you said backup the likes of ur cfg file is there a program to back this up and whats the purpose of this file?

you will need a new scan done anyway as channels have moved frequencies again so until a new bouquet is done.

Wish i knew what you meant by 'new scan done' im clueless :$, is there any guides on this stuff?

new scan done is a scan for channels. you can use dreambox control centre or any ftp programm to save the cfg file to yourr pc. have a look here for some of the information you need. Digital Kaos - Downloads - Dreambox DM500s for Newbies v6.1
