    No reboot

My dreambox 500s will not reboot after I flashed using OpenPLi image internal light is on but front shows only a static green light can't connect with dcc or dreamup to reflash or restore my back up getting an error send socket not connected. Any ideas?

I have tried a load of different versions of dreamup and just can't connect and can't turn on the box if it did connect I would have pulled my hair out if I had any.

smirnoff_rules I'm using a usb serial converter I know these can be problematic but it's my only way as I only have a laptop not a pc, in dream up I'm getting connection prepaired turn on box so I plug the box in and nothing happens I have left it for longer each time (over an hour last time) and still nothing. This is my second box it has happened to I'm loosing faith!

            Hi

Your problem is the usb to serial convertor. What os have you got xp or win7. They generally work ok with xp but struggle with win7.

Either get correct drivers and get it to work properly or find an old lappie/desktop with a dedicated com port.

            Regards

If your lappie has a PCMCIA card slot, then you could try something like this - which will give you a genuine 9 pin RS232 port with hardware interrupt (IRQ) for around a fiver.

                  Cheers- AL

                      Null serial cable

I had same problem mate until I found out that USB serial rs232 was different to null modem rs 232. Using an old pc with rs232 port running xp
