    DM528S + commando 14.5 + newbie

    Hi there,
Just received my DM500s clone and after days trying to flash it will null modem and usb adapter I finally succeeded to install Commando_v14_5-dm500s-Neutrino-Release.rar with telnet by Lan. (Thanks to Digital Kaos)
Now I have the box running with commando and there is already all the UK channels, and the free one working.
I downloaded the CCcam v2.3 and installed CCcam and CCcam.cfg by FTP as stated by many users on the forum.
I deleted anything inside the CCcam.cfg file and just added a cline.
Pressed the blue button, went to softcam and activate what was inactive.
    Am I doing it right?
At the moment it's not giving the results I'm expecting, as I am learning and improvising, I surely did something wrong.
    Let me know
    Cheers

Well, at the moment, sorry, but you're doing it all wrong, m8...

Why C14.5 when the current far better version is C14.6 in P1 on the dm500 Images stickies on here?

And I should avoid CCcam 2.3 if I were you. It's reputed to have a secret back door that allows certain people in and 'borrow' the cline you're testing for educational purposes for their own (and others) benefit. Stick to CCcam 2.2.1 - it's rock solid stable, and secure...

C14.7 will be released soon, so don't get too cozy, LOL!

    Cheers- AL

        Hi again,
I successfully installed commando 14.6 but by mistake I moved a folder of the dreambox on the FTP (I think /etc) and now I can't connect anymore to the device with FTP
Commando still works but it is not connecting to my router and getting ip, tried to add ip mask and dns manually but still doesn't connect....
I believe the solution is to flash with null modem but I dreamup doesn't detect my box with the usb adapter and cable I have.... I tried all versions of dreamup (from dreamup all.exe) but no luck...
I changed the usb driver and edited setting (11250 bits per S flow control Xon/Xoff) but still no luck
If I use PUTTy I can connect to the device in serial with same usb and null cable (some long texts with no sense appears when I connect my box)
I already had the problem before to Flash via null and it worked great through Lan and Telnet until I moved that folder by accident in the FTP...
Any advice, someone in Ealing - London with an old computer to help me flash it???

If you are using a modern desktop that doesn't have a 9 pin RS232 COM1 Serial port, why not add one in a spare PCI slot?

If it's a laptop you have, does it have a PCMCIA slot? If so, get a Serial port adaptor card for it. Either solution can be done for under a fiver and will give you a proper serial port with hardware IRQ interrupt, so DreamUP will always work.

Well, got the PCMCIA card but no luck at the moment...

The box have commando 14.6 working (channels etc...) but the box is not connecting to internet, not getting ip address as it used to do before I moved accidentally a folder on the box by FTP...
I checked the commando settings and can't fixed the internet...
I installed the PCMCIA card and now when I run dreamup 1.3.2.1 it detects the box DM500 on the log but still says "connection prepared, switch on the dreambox"
With the null model usb adapter it didn't detected the box at all....
I tried with many other versions of dreamup and got the same issue...
with dreamup DM500 v2.18a there is something different, it starts uploading when I switch on the box and then says "uploading completed, awaiting for acknowledge"

Really don't know where is the problem....
Let me know if you have any idea...
              Thanks

I starting to think that the issue is the null modem cable...
                I bought this one:
RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable Updates Dreambox Technomate Humax Eurovox EchoStar | eBay
I have juste broke the cable into pieces and will solder it back as it appears on the dreambox newbie guide...

                    Well,
The cable is fixed and now at least I'm sure the issue is not with the cable...I have same results now with DIY cable.
Can someone check the configuration of my rs232 PCMCIA card?
I've attached screenshots from the device manager and driver properties...
both PCMCIA adapters are the same card, and both LPT and Com ports are for the card too...
Let me know if it's normal...
when I installed the PCMCIA card I updated the drivers from the CD that came with it.....

Maybe it will only work with an old computer, or maybe there is something with the box...
it will drive me crazy for sure!
                    thanks
