DM500s what to do now!

Ok Guys Here we go!!

I have a fixed dish set up from a S*Y guy months ago. What I am trying to do is set this DM500s up so my dad can use it. He is in Liverpool I am up in Scotland! (like a plug and play for him!!)

I have flashed the box to - PLi jade green. done an auto transponder scan - picked up FTA channels on 28.2E,

What keys, cams settings would you suggest?? (and how?)

He wants to watch Channels like discovery and all dad channels like that, movies - yes, sport - no!

(Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D (28,2?E) - frequencies - KingOfSat) are the channels i see!!

Any ideas?

When i look at my EPG i see all channels but obviously cant see the encryptid ones when i select them - black screen.

I havent a card, and when its in liverpool it wont be connected to the internet.

dont bother installing keys your wasting your time sky cant be opened if you want to watch sky you will have to either get a cable box or pay for it,As for it not connecting to the internet it will be a ip conflict you need to go into settings and change your ip address to either dhcp or one in the range of your rooter that is not used by any other device

I just mean it wont be connected down in liverpool to the internet

What shall i do now then?

I notice alot of people have a DM500s what do you watch on it?

The only reason i have bought it was because my dad saw the DM500c that i have here and because he is not in a cable area - i stupidly suggested one of these.

HELP!! I dont want to look stupid to my dad -- hasnt stopped me in the last 30 years but dont want to start now

you need to go to setting then expert setting and tick the box that says dchp this will automaticly asign your ip address,as for the dreambox it can open channels but not sky which your dish is pionted at (28e),you would need to have a motrised dish or multi lnb on at least a 80cm dish to change which way your dish pionts and sorry to tell you but a sky dish is a little on the small side to get the good sats

Hi mate.. as already mentioned the D500S is good for opening foreign channels.. you really need to point your dish at 13 or 19E and keys dont really open much, you would need to investigate something called cardsharing, which is not an open subject on here.. however.. a 1m dish pointed at Thor 0.8W and keys will open a good package..
