OOPs... have somehow enabled password though didn't type anything!!

OOPs... have somehow enabled password though didn't type anything!!

Was looking through menus on my openpli jade imaged 500s and came across parental password and 'lock settings' password....

.... I quickly came out of the menu but somehow I've set a password protection for settings menus! as I didn't actually set a password I can't seem to remove it!!

I'd rather not do a re-flash so is there any other options?
I stil need to set some of my channel bouquets settings for extra satelite I've just added, hoping can get dreamboxedit still to work.

I've done enough damage for tonight so off to bed

But really hoping there is a file i can edit via ftp perhaps to remove this password restriction??

    cheers

When asked for the password, try the default 0000 and then disable the feature.

Once this option is set (even by accident), a new line is created in the /var/tuxbox/ config/enigma/config file - so if 0000 doesn't work, find that line (pin / parental or summat) and just delete the whole line!

But do save a backup first, and use notepad++ (freeware) for editing, please, NOT the internal FlashFXP editor, nor Windoze notepad or wordpad...

        Cheers- AL

Well wasn't 0000, or 1111, 2222 etc or 1234 so gave up, I'll have a look for that file, I'm using linux so hopefully can use Gedit?

will back up first though! Thanks

Strangely I'm not getting this to work the lines keep resetting on reboot to
            Code:
            i:/elitedvb/pins/enableparentallock=00000000
            i:/elitedvb/pins/enablesetuplock=00000001
            i:/elitedvb/pins/maxpinerrors=00000000
            i:/elitedvb/pins/parentallock=ffffffff
            i:/elitedvb/pins/pinerrorblocktime=00000001
            i:/elitedvb/pins/setuplock=ffffffff
Read on openpli website here that if the ffffffff are changed to 00000000 then the password would be 0000, but cant get to work.
also guessed that changing the enablesetuplock=00000001 to 00000000 would get rid of lock.......
but doesnt work and reset just puts file back to above!!!!

Edit: I've been told to stop it , thats me done for now, anything I do seems to do nothing and resets on reboot!

Edit2: just re read, ain't tried deleteing, will have one more go if swmbo will let me

Little update, I screwed up and somehow scuppered my image...
some remote buttons stopped working though removed password....
so installed new image and had to setup everything again!!!
got all working again and setup channels again using backup I had using dreambox edit.

              all working great now

That's good to hear. It's nearly a year since I moved the lounge dm500 from OpenPLi to Commando, but if memory serves me correctly, I think I know why you struggled with editing the config file.

You have to play a trick on enigma. Once you've edited (and gedit is perfick!) and overwritten the original, you must POWER CYCLE the box from the mains socket. If you do an orderly reboot via the menu, then enigma will overwrite your new stuff with the existing settings held in memory.

I've found one of my backed-up config files, where NO pin protection was in place. Notice that the lines you were editing don't even exist for me:

                Code:
                i:/elitedvb/network/usedhcp=00000000
                i:/elitedvb/network/webifport=00000050
                i:/elitedvb/system/bootCount=00000129
                i:/elitedvb/wizards/diseqc=00000001
So if you ever find yourself in this situation again, just delete all six '/pins/' lines, switch off at the power point, count to ten, and switch on again. Voil?!

Now that you have a decent backup of Jade, why not give our Commando 14.7 a try?

                Cheers- AL

Cheers for help mate, I'll remember for future.

Had a go with commando but couldn't get on with it to be honest (though was even more of a noob then). I stream channels to a computer in house and couldn't get it to work reliabily. At Least I think that was the reason I re-flashed, may of been becuase the main channels we watch are on hotbird satelite and seem to remember the image was more uk focused.

Hoping to get a vu+ solo2 in coming months if can sell enough stuff to raise funds, want a dual tuner with more power for streaming channels, hoping can stream different channels to different rooms.

Thanks for help tho mate, these forums are great for help.
