    easiest way to flash a dm500s?

    hi just qwondering if there is an easier way to flash a 500s than using dreamup? i did my dm800hd using web browser

    Use flash wizard pro,runs through your ethernet cable

      Telnet is as easy as it comes mate follow the guides on here.......Paul

        ftp the image file into the temp folder of box and install the image via
        the s/ware update menu on the box

          alright people i tried doing it via telnet on dcc and ****ed it , it said that it flashed the image succsefully but when i rebooted the box nothing happens at all and when i try to flash a new image via dreamup i am using usb to null as my lappy doesnt have a com port this should work as i have fixed my dm 800 this way and dreamup does read it but when it says connection prepared now switch on the dreambox after i switch on the dreambox nothing happens?

                  And make sure you have the correct COM port selected, as found in Device Manager. It's a common mistake to think that because no 9 pin serial port exists on modern lappies, then a USB - RS232 adaptor would be COM1 when plugged in. Wrong...

                  COM1 is usually already hard-wired internally to the docking port socket, so even if a docking station is not in use, COM1 is still reserved for it, including an IRQ.

                  Why not consider a proper PCMCIA-232 9 pin Serial port? ?7 on fleabay, inc free P&P.

                    my laptop aint got a serial port mate? i thought usb to null was the only way possible if you have a lappy?

                      thanks peeps il let you know how i get on as i cant do it yet as we are moving house and the misses has packed it and sent to new house :S

                        But your lappie surely has a PCMCIA card slot, no? So I'm talking about you treating it to a genuine RS232 Serial Port with a 9 pin male socket to connect your null-modem cable into, with it's own hardware IRQ and a likely serial port allocation of COM2 for DreamUp, PuTTY and so on.

                        It's a no-brainer, trust me on this...
