Help, I think I broke my DM500-S

Hi guys,

I am completely new to this stuff so please bear with me.

I have a Dreambox DM500-S. I used Dreambox Control Center to update my image to the Digital Kaos 1.1 image, however now that the box has restarted following the flash all I see is the DK logo, which blinks every few seconds. Pressing any key on my remote produces no effect that I can see.

Please tell me there's a way to fix this, or have I now completely trashed my box?

I don't have a 500s and I haven't tried that particular image but as far as I know you can't break it with a bad flash. Just flash again using dreamup.

I'll give this a try, I was struggling because last time I flashed over the network which is obviously not possible this time. I've got hold of a serial cable for a direct transfer to the box now.

I guess my question now is, which image should I use, and which softcam to go on it? Also, which is the best key bundle to use? I'm thinking mostly of UK sports channels.

you wont open any UK channels with keys.. if you have bought your dreambox for sky you have wasted your time mate.. the dreambox is great for opening European Sat TV.. If you are using just keys your only package that shows English Football is Canal+ on Thor 0.8w

Ah well that's a disappointment. I honestly wasn't that bothered about football, if I could get ESPN America for hockey and college football that would have been good enough, is that possible?

If not then I'll just stick to using it for FTA channels, the Freeview reception where I live is dire, so it's not been a complete waste of time and money.

Yes ESPN is possible.. its on Telstar 12 at 15.0?W but it wont open with keys..
If your on about ESPN Classic on Sky then no mate.. no chance with just keys..

I'm afraid mate if you have a static dish set to 28E then all you will receive is the freesat stations..
