    Waiting for acknowledge - DM500S

    Hi!
I have a DM500S which stopped working sometime this summer. I was watching some TV and then left for a friend, when I got back the picture started lagging and stuff so I rebooted and since then it doesn't work. The box isn't responding to anything I do with the remote and I've lost the IP adress on the router (DHCP client List). Now I try to use Dream Up to flash or erase the image so I can get it working again but then it just says Waiting for acknowledge... Any ideas what to do? I really can't answer any questions about image and stuff on the box since we bought it pre-installed with an image. I have a cable connected to the PC but I'm not sure whether it's an RS232 or null modem cable. Please help me out, I'm going nuts on this shit.

    Thanks!

I'll add some pictures from the MB if that can make u tell if it's a clone or not. 2013-11-09 02.33.38.jpg2013-11-09 02.34.17.jpg

Looking at the images and cross refrencing that with a document DM posted your DM500 seems to be genuine, I would have a look on Amazon or eBay and do a search for "null modem cable" there only a couple of quid I would take a punt (I got one off Amazon) also has your computer got a RS232 (COM) port or are you using an adpator? As some adpators can be dodgy. If all fails the only last option would be to attempt a JTAG.

      Hi!
Thanks for the reply. I have a COM port and I have the cable, but since I'm unsure I'll go for a null modem cable anyhow. Would a JTAG mean that I have to do some soldering? That's out of my competence area :P

Yeah a JTAG would require soldering, if DreamUP opens and detects your COM port then that should be fine it could be your cable, best thing to do is check that cable with a working box possibly to just check the cable if not get one off Amazon if you wanna take a punt.

Ok, will do so and come back here if it doesn't work. Thank you!

No problem bud as mentioned it's not guranteed to work, but at a few quid it's worth a shot I suppose.
