    First linux box, advice please.

Just ordered a linuxsat box and now need some advice, having read lots and lots about it i'm still a bit unsure.

As the linuxbox is a clone of the DM500 will the login and password be the same, ie root and dreambox?

What is the best image to use. Looking for something that will be easy to start with but allow me to do advanced stuff as time goes on.

Also what is the best emu to use? There seems to be so many, are there many differences between them?

Thanks in advance, seems like i'll be reading and playing lots over the coming weeks.

i would try the nabilosat image to start with m8
once box connected to a router
you can download keys straight to your box from there servers
thor 1w has some channels still open with keys and emu mgcamd or cccam
    with motorised setup
still use root and dreambox to log in to interface
    dm800-s=1.1 m triax motorised dish=titanium twin lnb

Christ that was fast, thanks for the v quick response. I'll download those and give them a go. Once the emu and keys are in are they auto updating or will i still have to find and type in the codes like with my technomate 1500. Sorry, don't know linux or dreambox at all.

interesting discussion - I've got a TM6900 thinking of going linux and getting on the internet. Got any good links for mr to get myself up to speed on best way of doing this?

also only got wifi to tv and sat reciever - can this be used to provide the internet connection to the linux box or do I need to run an ethernet cable?

any help would be really appreciated

Check out the cable section for dreambox information. Only the DM800 has wireless capability all the other dreamboxes can be attached with the wired ethernet connection. If you needed a wireless connection then you would need to use a wireless gaming adapter.
