DM500-S Not booting. stops at gemini logo.

Hello!
I'm afraid my DM500-S is dead...
Worked fine yesterday, but when i turned it on today it wouldnt boot up. Stops at showing "the GP" logo in yellow text.
Tried to flash it with dreamUP 1.3.3.2 but it cant find my DM500-S at all.

So does anyone know if this can be fixed?

think your problem was your image you up loaded to box as
gemini images and clones don't go m8 i think your box has been hit with the clone bomb built into gemini images with the assistance of dream multi media (makers of original boxes) so i think your box is F**Ked and it needs to be jtaged to recover from clone bomb then keep away from gemini images unless it's a bomb free image

I was told and checked a fiew things for som time ago that my box was not a clone in a different forum. But i do not know for sure.

But this socalled "bomb", can it be that gemini works for long time (5-6 months) and suddenly kill the dreambox.

Not sure what version it was but it was updated over the net not long ago. So next latest or the latest i guess...

Note: it was not under an update it was "broken" but from One day to another just by turning it on.

flash an erase image via DreamUp and null modem cable then flash your back up image (if you have one) the same way..

if you dont have a back up image then reflash the gemini..

ive been using gemini 4.2 for nearly 2 years.. its very stable

but then again maybe there was before the tv was on...

I've tried connecting to DreamUp with a USB to RS232 cable.
Choose seriell COM9 and push conect.
Plug in the power and nothing happen.
I can not turn it off with the swich because it hangs during boot.

are you using Vista..?? Some USB to RS232 adapters dont work with this version of Windows..

Try using a PC with XP or earlier, even better find a PC with a serial port

hi there!
Was testing on a windows7 rc1 pc.
Tested on a WindowsXP pc right now, same result.
Waiting for a real seriell cable now, my last hope maybe...

I think the poblem is that my box won't boot till he right point so the cable can connect in DreamUp.
So if here is no way of "re setting" of some type I guess I'm screwed...

Really don't want to JTAG the thing.
Beter to buy a new one if this thing dosent come back to life...

Finally got the box working again.

I was using a USB to RS232 cable.
Got my Seriell cable today and it did the job :0)
I did not know there was any different with a std. seriell then a USB to rs232.

But its up and running again now!

Testing Digital kaos v1.1 now. struggeling to get the card to open the channals.

if someone can point me to a good guide for DK v1.1 or some other good img. for getting up and runng i'll be thankful )

I'm not werry good at setting up dreamboxes, but I'll always figure something out, though it may take some time ;0)

Werry true my friend, nullmodem cable it is.
I was thinking there was somer kind of cross over yes ;0)

All I've done is trying to download some EMU from the net.
tried to download differt emus.
But do I have to aktivate them somevere...?
Sorry I dont remember the exakt EMU names now...
Anyway I've installed Pli Jade 3 now just to see how that looks and works.
Not tested after flash yet!

Yes i did download CCcam on DKv1.1 but only black channals...

After flashing to latest PliJade3 everything worked after comleting the setting. running softcam and CCcam 2.1.1 as deafult.
Maybe i was missing the softcam on DKv1.1??
Anyway still learning :0)

Using a Conax card for CanalDigital norway by the way.

I'm just having some fu testing things out now, so some tips on good popular IMG is welcome.
what i want is a IMG that is nice looking, nice subs, nice EPG and ofcourse can read my card and hav norwegian OSD if possible everything else is a bonus :0)
And yes I am a rookie!

Is it possible to get a IMG that have all basic plugins end emus already installed and working??
