DM 500S Set Up Questions

Hello. I'm new to the site, so you'll have to excuse my ignorance with may be considered three "easy questions". With that being said..
1.) I bought a DM 500S literaly 3hrs ago. I have my dish pointing at the right satelittes in my area in Greece(HotBird and Astra) and I have a excellent signal strength. I hooked up the internet and the dish cable to the box. I have a picture and I acquired the satelitte, but now i'm getting a error when I try to download the upgrades("Can't Resove Host Name" //download.blue-panel.com/update/catalog.xml). I have good internet with a direct line going to the box. Any ideas on how to fix it?

2.) Where do I go to find/download this "code" to give me access to all of the channels?

3.)Once I find the "code"..where/how do I install it on the DM500S?

Any help or guideance would be greatly appreciated!!

Maybe firewall is blocking your conection. You will not open any encrypted channels with Dreambox unless you get on a card sharing server. Talk of which, is banned on this forum.

But shouldn't it still connect even if I couldn't recieve all of the channels? I would assume that what I'm looking at right now is a FTA channel, so I was under the assumption that everything must be working if I'm looking at a channel. Would it work if it's not connected to the internet?

You would still get FTA if your not connected to the internet.

I have the DM hooked up to the same router that my computer is hooked to(linksys wireless g broadband router) the computer didn't mention me having a firewall(I mean it's a straight shot from the wall to the router, from the router to both the computer and the DM 500S), but i'll try to explore a little more. So what's the purpose of hooking it up to the internet then? Is it just to download the current software upgrades for the DM500S in general (as well as the stuff we can't discuss). Is there a way to upgrade my box without hooking it up to the internet.

What image are you using, chances are if you have an old image the download location doesnt work anymore!

Well, in one of the onscreen menus there is the software 4.2.0.17.12.2007 is that it?

i'm getting two errors:
1.) Can't resolve host name //download.blue-panel.com/update/catalog.xml
2.) Error //download.blue-panel.com/el-addons/getXML.php?ver=0420&type500

If you reboot the box it will give you a bootup screen with a name and version number.

I had the same issue with DK1 image.

Can you change your image mate to either pli jade or nabillo darkstar

It just has a Blue screen with X-Large letters: G P written in Yellow that's it.
