Hi,

I just got my first dreambox, DM500s black box and so far it is exelent. I had a bit of trouble picking the Satellite as there are so many in the list. I am in the UK (Devon if that helps), which satelights is best for me? Am i limited to just picking 4? if i get the channels from one sat can i change the sat from the sat config to get another one withought loosing the channels i have saved?

Also I have one of those new white sky cards, how do i link this to my box so i can recieve the channels i pay for? I have isntalled the CCcam but the slot menu has nothing in it? I know u cant talk about card sharing but is card sharing different from using a real white sky card or is there no difference? Does the CCcam emulate the sky card i insert so i dont have to keep in in there?

if you have a sky card then the best satellite for you to watch is Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2D at 28.2?E, these are your sky channels..

Sorry i cant really tell you anything about Cardsharing due to the rules of the forum.. apart from its about sharing subscription cards with other people from all around the world..

do you have a motor on your dish or more than 1 LNB..??
if not you may want to think about getting one as currently your dreambox is way underused

Thank you for your quick responce. You say that i want the sky satellites, what othere ones are there? can i get any decent channels from other satellites?

oooh, a motorised dish sound interesting. what can i get from it that a normal one cant? are they noisey or pricey?

what about this CCcam stuff, is that for my sky card or for emulation only?

cccam is used to read sat cards ie sky card and a cardshare setup as you know i cant say no more on the subject

you can get way way more channels from other satellites, far more than you imagined.

from nearly every epl football game, documentaries, films, hardcore ~~~~ but 99% of it is now encrypted so is only viewable by valid subscriptions or cardshare

Have you bought your Dreambox yet..??

If its just a question then its a bit hard to visualise but if you have the equipment its easier to talk you through

Yes i have the dreambox and a white card. I have a static satellite and wont be able to afford a motorised one for a while. I tried to use that method for the white sky card you gave me.

I installed the NewCS & CCcam but i think the versions i could get were out of date. i got them trhough the addon manager. i got NewCS v 1.50 and the CCcam was 2.0.10 (there was also 2.0.8 availiable btu .10 is newest right?)

I tried running CCcam but it said command not found. i telneted into it and went to /var/bin and tried it again there with to provail. i even tried ./CCcam but it said permition denied. i then tried chmoding it to 777 and even the -x option but nothing.

The newcs binary was newcs.150 but the tutorial said to replace it with the one in the tutorial. also there was no newcs.xml in /var/tuxbox/config/ it was something like newcd.150.xml. I am all confused now. do i have an onl image or anything. it was pre flashed with Digital kaos v1.1 as i was told. there is an update itino in the kaos panel will updating break anything, or wipe my channels?

can i ask if you have a valid subscription and only a fixed dish at astra2, why get a dreambox???

NO aftermarket box is better for uk sly, than the ones sly provide themselves so personally i dont see a point m8 you will be better off putting it back in your sly box, unless you plan on sreaming to your pc

I like the idea about streaming to pcand will eventualy get a motorised dish. i want to do card sharing i nthe future is this all works out (i know i cant talk about it)

for sat the image i would go for are pli jade or nabilosat darkstar
might work a bit better for you
pli image may be better for streaming

I thought that digital kaos was the best image for all round thats why it came with it. What is the main differences in them apart form the interface?

DK is a good image mate and retailers have only started loading it on as they know this is a good support forum and people will hopefully come here than go back to them with questions
