Hello,

I try updating the FTA channels on my DM500S but it doesn't update.

I've used the required software (dreamboxEDIT) to update the FTA channels, however there is no luck.

Most of the FTA channels show (removed service)

Would anyone recommend an image for the dreambox 500S or possibly a solution on how to update the FTA channels?

Latest Commando Image has all the needs to keep you up to date mate
Re flash that and you wont go far wrong .................Paul

your doing the wrong thing mate . firstly you need dream control center , you should get it from the download section on this forum . once you have it you need to unzip the file (most files are zipped ) after that you have to open the file and set it up , this is easy enough but if you cant do it we can help . next you need to download an up todate satellite.xml file , just google satellite.xml and you will get download options . then you use dcc to send the satellite.xml from your laptop to your dm500s . once the file is in the box you reboot (restart the box) and then scan for channels . as I say if you need help with dream control center we can help you .

It seems I have attempted to flash commando using telnet/FTP and the box no longer shows on TV (although green light is on).

Could you please possibly tell me how to have it booted back up again? It seems I'd require a null modem cable now, what else would be required please?

all you need is a null modem cable / dreamup and of course an image . if your using a laptop you more than likely wont have an rs232 connector on it for the null modem cable , in which case you will need a usb to serial adaptor cable , and you will need to install the correct driver for that adaptor .
