My DM500s has died after installing DK v 1.1

i installed the DK v1.1 but when the reciever start i only kepp getting the dk simple displayed for few second and dissappear again as if it is restarting but nothing else tried to use DCC to restore it it isays my password is wrong of my dream box i used the standard user an pass
COULD ANYONE TELL ME IF I CAN GET MY DM500S BACK OR SHALL I STOPP WASTING MY TIME AND OTHER AND GET SOMETHING BETTER

Ok first off you need to take a chill pill, cut out the caps and take a few deep breaths.

Download Dreamup, its easy found then download a new Image again these are easy found.

connect box to pc via Null cable, which I assume you know how to do, and load up a new image, there are plenty around this site, and others.

Your box is not dead, so chill out

i tried to do all that but im telling you i tried every trick in the box but no use my problem is my DM500s wont stay on it keep switching on and off all the time giving me no chance to relaod other image do u understand my problem and no im not panicking this reciever is my first trial on linux sat recvr it only cost me few quids i had been here before the days when card programmed by usb phonix and the rest of it.

looks like he got his downloads fella and now he's off.. his downloads = 0 ten minutes ago

no use

tried dream up but still no connection with null connection because the image i downloaded keep switching the dream box on and offit is only on for less than a second then it is off back on 8 seconds later although the standby light is on all the time

i appreciate the quick response but could any one tell if the dk v1.1 had changed the the default password because when i use the option direct cross over when connection fails i go to the FTPProtocol and i see incorrect password and the ftp is read at the bottom but the telnet square is green is that is a good thing or not

i have been through the same road as you with my 500s switching off and on. dreamup will not fail to cure this problem. you dont even need IP of the box.

just fire up your dream up and click on connect. it will ask you to switch on your dreambox. you need NULL MODEM cable.

im trying to use my laptop through a usb conerter to serial could be the problem because my dell pc hasnt got a com port with 9 pin and perhaps that is why dream is not firing up

Theres your problem then, you need a NULL MODEM CABLE you can then connect to your box with dreamup and add a new image.

thank you for your time will go and findd a pc with com port and will try to fix it hope fully my next post will be horrrrrrrray i've done it keep finger cross

woooooooooooooooooha i done it following your advice i manage to reseruct the box using null cable modem i managed to find a pc with com port used dreamup and wallla it worked...i think it is time i can say i managed to get my head around the dreambox
the next challenge is to get the c line to start sharing
