    DM500 doing my head

Box was working supper for months now. but yesterday each time i try to change satellite the signal quality drop to zero. This has been going on up to now. I have to plug off power several times till the signal register. I have a 90cm dish.

I have changed images 3 times, Pli jade, nabillo, DK1, but still the same.

Is it my tuner going? or the dish is too big for a 500s?

your dish size is ok i used to turn a 1meter on a dm500 with no problems it could be your tunner but i would check all your f plugs frist to see if they are tight and no water has got into them

Yeah I would agree with that !

There is some problem between the two pionts from LNB down to the receiver, check all the connections ! disconnect the cable attached to the LNB and if you can use a multimeter (or your toung) see if there is a voltage running up the cable from the receiver !

If there is a voltage and the LNB powers ! then it would look like your dish is not fixed on the satellite in question thus getting a signal error (normaly shows a quick flash on the signal banner then dissapears)

A tuner thats dead will normaly not result in a signal at all or will pop up an error no satellite been received, if it still flashes a signal in the banner its still alive, you have an error coming from some other bit hardware (coxal cable or connections , satellite dish or LNB) ...

If you are useing a multiswitch check that its working as these can blow very easly especially if you disconnect the coax cable without switching off the receiver I have blow a few giving a simular result you are experiencing....

I think you two guys are correct. The cable from my lnb to the motor is a DIY job which was done poorly. Transparent tape was used to seal the joins between F connector and cable. Now there is high probability that water has gained access inside the cable.

So now do i need to change just the cable or the LNB is water damaged as well?

The long cable from the motor to the receiver is ok as it was properly insulated
