Only place to buy an original is ebay and look for a second hand one. Any you buy new will be a clone.

I bought 2 from linuxsat.eu and have had no problems as yet.

New Dreambox 500 havent been made in over a year now. So all new ones will be clones from china. I use dvbseller.com, no problems with many I have bought from the. Just be sure to send via EMS shipping as it avoid customs etc...

You might save a few quid on buying one from dvbseller but you've got to wait up to 10 days for it to get here from China and if anything goes wrong with it you'd have to send it back at your own cost. Linuxsat.eu afaik is UK based, I got mine in 2 days.

the one i got from dvb wont work they want a picture of it hooked up but i cant take picture of black screen ?

maybe you should try flashing a new image or make telnet/ftp contact via a serial or network connection before condemning it?

This is a common error which happens when you have made a bad flash on the memory of the box. Think of it like a hard drive, cutting power to pc when hard drive writting to it can cause bad sectors...same thing with your boxs memeory.

Continue to try flashing with dreamup. Also try unticking the network part..keep trying 1 time it took 3 days to get it to accept a flash after I messed it up with bad flash.

Ive never know dvbseller to ask for such things, I've never had a problem with returning item to them etc... I've only known dvbmonkey to ask for such things so are you sure it is dvbseller you bought your box from?
Also define "wont work" quite general description of a box

If you want an original what about the DM600. Thats the only option.
