communication setup of DM 500s not ok

hThis is my 1st time post immediately after registering with this Forum.

I down loaded the latest software “Gemini… Gp” into my Dream Box DM 500s. Now letter Gp appears on the Boot-up Screen. Earlier it used to be picture of an apple. I have the internet connected to by DM 500s. I started getting all the Free and paid channels. No smart cart is used in the card slot.
After removing the Ethernet connection one time, I stopped receiving programs even after reconnecting the Ethernet cable. The boot-up screen even now shows Gp

I restored my Dream Box DM 500s to Factory setting. I have a DHCP Internet connected to the DM D500s. Now I am not able to update the software. Cannot resolve hostname! Message is appearing.

When I try the initial setup I reach a screen "Communication setup" I selected DHCP & “Enable Net work” The “Web Interface Port” is showing a default number 80. Pressing the yellow button for TEST, on the remote control, shows “Network setup is not ok”. Where am I gone wrong in the communication setup?? Now I am able only to see the free channels.

It looks as though my Ethernet connection is not active. Pleas advice to ************
    Thanks
    Harry TJ

Solved it - This is what i did

I have also had this problem. I have had this problem with both DM500 and DM7020. Some of the DM500 models need an extra switch. The way i solved this problem was to setup an extra switch nearby the DM, and then it worked just fine. I used a 0,5m cat5 cable, and connected this cable between the DM and the "new" switch. From the "new" switch i am using a much longer cat5 cable to my main switch. This worked for me, but i don`t understand why.
        I hope this helps you.

I never have such problem on my DM500s, just suggest to check your network because I have try to connect my router using cat.5 cable more then 50M without any problem. if you do make the cable your self, remember the cable pair should be 1-2, 3-6.

          regards

            It worked for me !

As i said, this worked for me, but off course this maybe not work for all with this problem.
I have tried several DM500 boxes - Most of them work just fine, and there is no need with an extra switch. Others, works with an extra switch, installed close to the DM.

I did also measure my entire network, with pro network equipment. All results came back with great results (qualified for gigabit), so there was nothing wrong with connections etc.
I am only using professional network cables, as there is more trouble with the one you are making by yourselves.

              OMG! Thank you so much!

I have been having this exact network issue and thought my box was defective I wasn?t even able to download from the blue menu (using gemini FW) and I had packet loss over LAN. Now that I have added a network switch it works 100%
