When you record to your PC, the format is in .ts which is a form of MPEG.

I have tried quite a few conversion methods -for DVD and IPOD (mp4) but should also be OK for DivX. VLC is good and you can create a batch file to do it. The Project X/IFOedit one is also good. I have had some good results for some formats with mediacoder. It depends on how picky your DivX player is as this will determine how difficult to find the right set of settings.

You can also use NGRAB on your PC. This gives you few extra options to use when recording.
