Can i record to my laptop wireless for recording dm500

hi guys, i have laptop with wireless connection , one of those orange live boxes, which my dm500 is conncted to, is it possible to set up ngrab i have followed guides but still having no luck, i am on msn messenger so any help would be great thanks,

Have managed to set up ngrab, brecording to pc fine, is it poss to view recordings on dm500 i am using pli jade 3,

Go to the Pli web page and checkout their wiki as I think there is a plugin which allow you to do this on your dm500.

i had a look why is their no sound when u watch it back through windows media player

i have gave up on the sound any advice on mounting my laptop using pli jade image greatly appreciated

Maybe you have not got the right codecs loaded on your pc for watching movies. I find the VLC Viewer is much better than Media player for watching all recordings from dreambox.

To record from DM500 to pc i use WinGrabZ
very small light program
works perfect wireless or wired


1 Start WinGrabZ on pc
2 tick grab into a program stream file (click next)
3 enter the DM500 ip address (click next)
4 enter output file name i use C:\out.mpeg (click next)
5 (click next) again
6 click start

I spent a good while testing recording on the 500s over a wireless lan.
The DVR method was unusable,the recorded files were blocky,stuttering and intermittent.
Ngrab recorded perfectly to my pc mounted hard drive but the playback on the 500s was unreliable.

My wireless setup is as solid as a rock,as I said I can record perfectly to the mounted hard drive.
Playing back on the 500s is stuttering because its network controller is poor and cant buffer the data stream correctly.
