    DreamBox 600

    Hi All

Apologise for asking potentially a stupid and simple question, but I am new to this and would like some advice if poss.

I am looking to buy the above box and have read somewhere that it needs to be constantly connected to the internet via the enthernet port.

IS this true, and if so why??

Also does this box require a sky card to be placed into it, will it work with my original card or do I have to purchase a card reader and download a setting to the card via the card reader?

Finally (Im sorry), once I purchase this box and potentially sort the card out, do I need to continue paying my Sky Subscriptuon??

    Mucho Appreciatio

Hi there, the receiver itself will work with or without an Internet connection via the ethernet port, it won't though allow you to share your card (locally or otherwise)... You also won't be able to take advantage of all the extras like streaming video, downloading addons via menus etc. It's not required to be connected but it's a lot better if it is...

Your card will work directly in the receivers card slot with the latest cccam, you just need to find your box key for it to work with premium channels (sports, movies etc.), this is straight forward enough if you have your paired sky receiver to hand... It WONT allow you any extra channels than you are paying for, so yes in this respect you would need to keep your subscription up...

There are other ways though with a bit of reading up, and it's well worth reading up on, but bottom line is if you are wanting a quick fix for free sky then this is not for you, if you are willing to do a bit of reading up both on here and other forums though you will definatly find there is a lot more to a Dreambox than meets the eye...
