    Vertical Channels

    Hi,

I’ve been messing about today with my clone 500S and noticed a few channels were missing. Turns out I’m not picking up and vertical channels from any satellite. First thing I did was paid a visit to google and did a bit of searching.

Through google I found a few posts from here with some suggestions. I get good signal on BBC 1 95% SNR and AGC. Someone on here suggested manually putting the details in for Sky News and doing a manual transponder scan which I did and I only get about 60% SNR and 75% AGC I tried to scan the transponder anyway and got nothing. I have tried details for other vertical channels on other satellites and get exactly the same results.

So I saw elsewhere that you can test the voltage from the receiver as Horizontal should be around 18v and vertical 14v. I’m not sure I tested this properly but I tested from the receivers LNB in connector and I had 18v when tuned to a horizontal channel. I then tried scanning Sky News transponder again and the voltage reading stayed at 18v. Have I tested that wrong or does that prove that the tuners faulty….or does the dish alignment just need tweeking? (Although getting the ladder out in the winds with been having lately and climbing up to the roof can wait!! Lol)

Ideally I'd like to connect another receiver to test but I don't have one, I might have a look for a cheap one on ebay.

    Here’s what I am using

    Clone DM500S
    1mtr Dish
    Technomate 2300 motor
    Icecrypt quad LNB

    Thanks!

If you have an issue regarding no vertical or horizontal polarities it generally means the lnb is cooked.

Okay cheers, that's what I was going to change first. As they are pretty cheap it's not going to break the bank getting a new one to test!

        Hey,

Just installed a new LNB today and I still can't pick up any vertical channels Does that mean it's the tuner?

        Thanks.

        Dan.

Would be strange for vertical channels to be a tuner issue. Normally is lnb. Check all connections. Back up channel lsit. Do a reset and rescan.

Okay not done that yet. I've not organised any channels so I'll just blat a clean image over and like you say do a rescan...fingers crossed that'll do the job!

            Cheers!

I had a similar problem (getting V and no H channels) a few weeks ago, and thought it was an LNB problem.
I tried an old LNB, no change. While replacing the LNB I noticed a crack in the cable connector going into the motor. So I moved it to see if it was connecting properly and it came off in my hand. After fitting a new connector all is working again. I have no idea what caused the connector to break, but it will be the first thing I will check if there is any more problems.

                  Hi.
New here on the board, and eventhough i have some experience with sat. recievers, I have a problem similar to the OP.
My DM500S has been working fine for some months, but suddenly it lost signal on a few transponders - what i?ve noticed is that it appears only to be VERTICAL transponders, and ONLY on the Sirius sattelite.
12054 V is at SNR 63%, while those I can recieve is around 96%.
I changed LNB 3 times, moved the disc, changed disc, changed cable, but no luck. Then finally i took my reciever to a friend who has 2 seperate LNB?s, and there it worked?. but at my house can?t get all the tv3 channels back.

                  My setup:
                  Koscom monoblock (0,2dB)
                  80 cm disc
                  DM500S dreambox, running Gemini
                  firmware 4.7.0

any ideas are welcome, this issue drives me crazy
