if you have a new d500s then it will be a clone so dont use any other gemini image than 4.2.. Gemini 4.2 for D500 is in the download area of our site

        My personal choice is..

DreamUp (for flashing images, need to use a null modem cable to connect D500 to PC)
        Gemini 4.2 for D500
Dreambox Control Centre (for FTPing files over)

Then you can download your EMU's from the Gemini server via your remote

            .FW2 File

But if someone sent me .FW2 file, then I will need Flashwizard Pro? Will I still need the Gemini 4.2?

              a .FW2 is a Framework II file

Your dreambox 500 needs a .img file like Gemini

You need to use a program called DreamUp to flash the image file

you need to connect the Dreambox to your router via ethernet cable

I can't understand why you would even ask about connecting your dm500s to the VM white box when you know full well that VM have nothing to do with satellite.

                        you need a router..

it sounds like you just have the modem.. to use a dreambox you need to have a router attached to your VM modem.. the Dreambox connects to the router via an ethernet cable..

A Dreambox requires a lot more knowledge than the cable boxes like the starview / eurovox

To get the best out of it you will need to be able to do the following:

Make your VM IP address stactic via aDynDNS address
Configure and port forward your router to your DynDNS address
Be happy setting up a LAN for your Dreambox to run off
Be able to input linux code into configuration files then use a FTP program to transfer them to your box

Dreamboxes aren't plug and play machines like the cable boxes

                              Yip. Nabilosat all day long.

You dont need a router, just spend a few quid to get a network switch. alot cheaper alternative.
