Got my Dreambox 500S

Going to try and set it up later, have sky dish pre installed, so im presuming there is an image on this Dreambox already, how do I check that this is the case and if so how do I scan in the free channels from the sky dish?Thanks

Hi Mate,
The best thing to do would just to install a image, to see if a image is on, just tell us what you see when you start the box up, all images with show a picture with image name on ie Gemini, niablosat ect.ect

To scan the channels it will ask you to do this on first set-up, it says "No Disq" which you need then it will offer a automatic scan, however i would scan, then try loading a channel list to get some order and save you time..

Thanks for your reply, so basically once I have it connected and turned on it will ask me to scan,which I accept and then I will have the channels?

Yes, but before you scan install your image, as a image installtion will remove your scanned channels.

Why would I install an image when there is one on it, think its a Gemini 4.2 for clones.

a lot of boxes dont come with a image pre-installed on them just standard enigma, so make sure a image is installed first. Also you may want to update your image to a newer one, which will be better i.e Gemini 4.6 NON BOMB.

Ok,whats the advantages of downloading this new 4.6 image over th 4.2?Features?

And whats the best image out there at the moment for a cloned 500s?

As the images are more recent they are more stable and usually faster, my personal Favorite is the NiabloSat 0.8V MaxVar as i find this very fast and quick, also easy to use.

yeh fine on clones, really easy set up and nice user interface, i personally install this image on all reciever i sell.
