    router and ethernet lead

    im struggling at the minute my router is upstairs in bedroom and i want to link a dreambox 500s downstairs in living room apart from very long ethernet cable what can i do ? because i dont really want the very long cable going across the landen down the stairs and across a few doors then into the living room? we would be tripping up over it

    any help please

    Google or eBay the term "Powerline network adaptors". These use your households Ringmain.

      Yeah the name for them is HomePlugs there not to dear and the cheapest ones will do you fine for what you need.

        just make sure you dont have 2 ringmains in your house ie 1 for upstair and one for downstairs you can check in your fusebox see if there is just one 32a breaker trip it and see if all sockets upstairs and down stairs go off then you should be ok with home plus

          never checked that before buying ours . We were lucky then i guess.

          Very simple to set up. Very close to plug and play.

            make sure you by a pair of them to make the network
            plug one into a port in your router
            and into the power socket
            and one next to your dreambox
            make sure you got 2 ethernet cables
            dm800-s=1.1 m triax motorised dish=titanium twin lnb

              You only need 2 short runs of ethernet cables. long enough to get from power plug into Dreambox and another to get from power plug into router.

                I had exactly the same problem, just bought a pair of home plugs (type Orange) from Ebay and set it up. 5 minutes job no more. The intuctions given in this thread are enough. Tested my PC with the home plug downstairs (haven't tried the DM500S cose I have not received it yet) and the PC went on net easily. Buy a pair and better not mix and match different type of home plugs.

                  Yeah homeplugs are great if you dont want long wires, I personally ran all my wires outside

                        this is a bit expensive, there are cheaper ones around
                        Wavefield Ds 55cm at 13E 19E and 28E receiving everything out there on 2 dm800hd
