    What do you mean you can't get it connected...As it there is no internet connection to the DM500 or is the router not even acknowledging it?

    Have you tried going into the router config usually at 192.168.0.1..look at the attached devices? Shouldn't really have to port forward to be honest. If there is an option for uPnP set it to true in the router config.

      as long as you router setup as a gate way to let your dreambox connect to the next should bo no proble try this turn fire walll off
      This is how to set up your Dreambox so that it has access to the Internet and will allow you to FTP keys to it from a Windows PC on your home network. This example uses the Gemini image so you may need to modify it to fit the menus etc. on your image. It assumes you have already set up your home network.

      You have the option of using a fixed IP address or using DHCP.

      To use DHCP tick the "DHCP" option and leave the IP field and netmask fields blank.

      Fixed IP Addresses

      For this example I will use these IP addresses:

      router : 192.168.0.1
      Dreambox : 192.168.0.24
      PC: 192.168.0.9

      The Dreambox and PC must be within the same IP range e.g. 192.168.0.n

      Details

      On your remote control press Menu > 6 > Expert Setup > Communication Setup

      You will see a screen similar to the first attachment. Enter values for

      IP = your Dreambox IP address
      Netmask = 255.255.255.0
      Type = LAN
      Nameserver = you ISP's DNS server IP address
      Gateway = your router IP address
      Enable = checked

      The IP address for the nameserver is the IP address of your ISP's DNS server (nameserver). To find this, on your PC click

      START > run > cmd

      Then type ipconfig /all to get a listing of the configuration of all your network interfaces. Enter your value as the nameserver.

      Save and reboot your Dreambox. DONOT FORGET TO TURN FIRE WALL BACK ON

            hi

            from kevin64's post for fixed ip address

            Details

            On your remote control press Menu > 6 > Expert Setup > Communication Setup

            You will see a screen similar to the first attachment. Enter values for

            IP = your Dreambox IP address
            Netmask = 255.255.255.0
            Type = LAN
            Nameserver = you ISP's DNS server IP address
            Gateway = your router IP address
            Enable = checked

            on dm500 dns server = Nameserver (I have always put the same ip as the router)
