    Newbie question - 1 Account 2 Locations different DM500's

I have taken a CS account here in Turkey and want to watch the service in 2 different locations (Not simultaneously) as when the office is closed I want to watch at home. dont want the hassle of removing the box each day.

So thanks to this forum I have managed to get to the point where I have used Dreamup to back up one machine and then flash the other. next on my list was to change the MAC addresses (no problems with conflicts as I wont use them at the same time) but on plugging in my home DM500 it seems to be working no probs.

So here is my question how does this work?

I guess the provider is a little slack in not using the MAC address to validate the DM500 an block duplicates. I havent yet plugged both in at the same time but I cant see why it wouldnt work or may they block simultaneous requests with same username and password?

do you think I should change the MAC address or as its not broken dont fix it?

I have also managed to add a second user to the box so am sitting here quite proud, and thankful for such a great resource.

    Take care

Its not the MAC adddress that the server uses to stop 2 users joiing on the same account. It uses the dns addy or the IP (as far as I am aware). As long as you connect with the same dns address or IP there wont be a prob.

A server can stop and easily recognise 2 receivers trying to connect on the same account. So IMHO I wouldnt bother.

Most servers stop duplicate logins nothing to do with were connecting from diff ip unless the person that gave you the c:line puts your dns or ip at the end of there f:line in cccam.cfg file.
If you put the c:line into both boxes as long that both boxes aint on at the same time it should clear

Pob639 - bang on, my provider seems not to care about IP/DNS just the fact cant log on with 2nd box whilst 1st is still on.

I didnt realise that the box is still talking to the provider even when in standby? I left the box in standby in office and came home to find couldnt connect with 2nd box. Had to go back and remove the network lead for it to drop the server link, then all worked fine.

Are there any "on putting the box to standby" setting I can adjust to drop the network link or an equivelent?

        Thanks for your help.

        regards

        Marc

If you know the box's IP address, you can remotely login to the box using telnet and then issue the command - shutdown.
