DM500S Not moving to different Sattelites!!!

Hi guys, I flashed with pli image last night after not finding hardly any channels on naiblo image.

I set my LON and LAT and did a multi sat scan for the transponders I wanted. It found quite a lot. Now I assume the pli image as built in bouquets because I had a few in there already, like FTA uk etc etc.

But last night everytime I tried to view anything, the screen was blank! I think of the top of my head I was getting SNR - 60%
    AGC - 90%
    BER - 0

Something like this, Im not at home so cant check. But when I went on the info on blank channel I got these results!

I havent used my 80cm motorised dish in over a a year, so does this have anything to do with it?

Also when I try to change sats, the box reads 'moving to 13e, please wait' but it never actually gets there and that message stays on the screen!

    Am I doing something wrong?

I would make sure my dish is aligned properly by going to BBC World on Thor 1.0W and checking the reception. Download and install one of the channels settings from the Pli image server so that can be sure you have a valid satellie.xml file

Hi mate, I must have installed a channel list last night by going in to channel settings within the pli image as I have connected it to my network succesfully. OK, So I'll go to BBC WORLD 1.0W. What reception should I be looking at achieving? Maybe the snow could be playing a part too?
I've never been very goot at the sattelite side of all this (I paid a installer to set mine up about 3-years ago)

Oh yeah, and another thing, do I need to install keys to open some channels that can be opened with keys at the moment?? If so do I do this via the blue button OR do I need to FTP over the keys?

And if some channels are open at the moment with keys, which ones are they?

For some people getting a picture on BBC World Thor 1.0W when first setting up is major event. Try to maximise the signal on BBC World and then try to tune a picture on some of the others sats such 28.2E, 16.0E, 13E etc. I would concentrate on getting the FTA channels before worrying about keys etc.

Thanks mate, I'll give it a go tonight. So I take it I use the
GO TOXXX method first, then enter my LON and LAT and then try to get a good pic on BBC 1W firslty correct?

By the way it seems that I had installed 'captain picards' channel list. Could this be one of the reasons why it's not working also?

So if I install this will it overwrite my existing captain prichard settings?

Quick update. I cant seem to get a lock on 1w and when I try to view BBC world the signal is about 60-65% but screen is blank!
BUT I can get channels on 13e. It's hard to say wether or not I can move the dish! I went outside and light on dish on motor was green, so maybe it's only on 13e!!?!?! And has seized up and not moving motor due to me not using it for about a year??

I ticked the 'extra voltage' tab in the settings too. Damn this is frustrating!

If the transponders in your satellite.xml are out of date than the dm500 won't be able to move to the correct postion as it does not exist. Download and copy the latest satellite.xml to var/etc and then send your dish to BBC World on Thor 1.0W. I would say you are probably close but just need a little adjustment, you could try just wiggling the dish a little on BBC World 1.0W Thor and see if the signal goes up or down.

Can you PM me a working channel list please mate?? As I tried to install one via FTP last night in to var/etc and it messed my naiblo image up, hence why I now decided to give pli a try. I suppose when the snow clears I can borrow a ladder and try to move dish a little bit and see if dish is moving!

Oh, and once ive ftp'd channel list do I then reboot box and channel list should then be there??

At the moment I have a channel list from inside the image that I downloaded, HENKSAT I believe. Maybe these are out of date too?

Henksat's settings are pretty much up to date. It is best to use Dreamboxedit to send your settings to your box. I would say that your dish is out of alignment rather than aything else on your dreambox. I have attached my settings which were originally taken from the Captains settings.

                              Right then guys- UPDATE!

Ok, I managed to move the dish (all done via dreambox remote control) sucessfully to 0.8w and get a good lock on to it, and then tweaked it to get the best signal I could. And I got about 92-94 % signal with 0-6 BER... Is this good?

I also managed to get locks on hotbird 13e, 16e and 19e... BUT one of the things that is absolutely doing my head in, is that I cant move/lock on to ASTRA 28E for all the FTA sly channels etc!!! AHHHHHHH

Any ideas what im doing wrong???
