    DM500S not working.

Hi, here seems a great forum for satellite geeks

I have a clone dreambox dm500s. When I plugged it, there isn't any change on it (LEDs etc.) But When I connect the ethernet cable, three LEDs on the board light up. I tried DreamUP with RS232 and it didn't work. I want to try JTAG but there is a problem with JTAG connector on the board, one of the pins' way on the PCB is broken, so it seems that it will not work. But I think, it is worth to try JTAG.

If JTAG doesn't work, do you have any solutions for me?
    Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you are flashing it correctly?
When flashing use Dreamup and a rs232 cable! Make sure the power cable is NOT plugged in the back of the Dreambox!
Start up Dreamup! Make sure "Use Network" is UNCHECKED!
Select com port! Click on connect then plug in power cord to box!
Hopefully the status bar should fill up! If it does click on the ping button and hopefully it should say "The box is alive and talking".
Select flash! Find image within program! It will ask if you want to perform a flash erase during flashing! click yes! Wait about 10 minutes! If all went well your box should be up and running!
P.s - DONT use any Gemini image as they can permanently kill your box! D.K 1.1 image is highly recomended!

rs232 and a nullmodem cable is not the same... you need to use a "rs232 nullmodem" cable....
search on google to find the pinout and make it your self

Thanks for your comments. I mean null modem connection while saying "rs232" RS232 connection doesn't work in every way. I think I will use JTAG.

I have had DB`s for many years and NEVER used JTAG.....
NEVER bricked a DB.... (300+ flashed for friends etc...)

However, I have flashed some wrongly, and had to use Dreamup to fix or reflash it....

          But never JTAG.....

Would recomend you to try and do it properly again
