about to dive in to the world of motorised satellite dish, got myself a 500S - where does the power for the motor on the motorised dish come from, I assume from the DM500S via the cable - will the DM provide enough voltage to control the motor.

thanks, does the DK 1.1 image support a motorised set up (currently use DK 1.1 for my cable DM so am happy to use same image for satellite)
with VM moving to N3 best time to move over to Satellite scene and hopefully get the 3pm footy.Comment

what cams are used for 1 west ,I was thinking of going with either the technomate tm500 or the dreambox500s which is best and wnat cams are required and work at the moment without the use of CCCam.I have looked at the technomate cam update section but no mention for the linux based tm500 I want to use a linux based box as they can cardshare if you wish. thanksComment

yes that motor will be fine on a 500 dreambox any DiESqC motor is fine the use the coaxail cable to carrie the 18volts to the motor then a loop of the motor to lnb just watch the dish size think these motors arre good for up to a 1.2 dish and thing over that will be to hevay for the motor to drive i would go for a meter dishComment

CCcam is the CAMD used with Keys and it will open 1 West Digi Tv, The TM500 and DM500S are both okay for CCcam and C/S as far as i am aware.what cams are used for 1 west ,I was thinking of going with either the technomate tm500 or the dreambox500s which is best and wnat cams are required and work at the moment without the use of CCCam.I have looked at the technomate cam update section but no mention for the linux based tm500 I want to use a linux based box as they can cardshare if you wish. thanks
Any Motor should work on the DM500S.

As stated here try to keep your dish below 1.1 Meters for two reasons
1) Anything above requires planning permission
2) The power coming from your reiever wont be enough to power the dish to move and you will need a addition unit to power the motor.
