what other methods can be use to flash PLi? Jade3 to a dm500s apart from the null cable and dreamup prog? is there another way?

transfer the image using an ftp client to the tmp folder, i usually rename the file to 'backup'.
then open a telnet session to the dreambox and onced you've enter the username and password enter
cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot
will write the image then reboot itself
all done...

i use flashwizard. very easy. connect box to your router check settings in flash wizard. and flash.Comment

With FlashWizardPro it's indeed very easy and quick, however it once happened to me that it got stuck at 84% and the box wouldn't start anymore, I had to use Dreamup to flash it.
So while convenient, a little risky if you can't use Dreamup.Comment

very true. this happened with my once. but i was being stupid and flashing it with the box downstairs over the homeplug network. but indeed dreamup is a safer way.Comment
