thanks curious123.will try,i think i know what i am doing wrong,do you think the gotox thing will work if i get a decent lock on 0.8west or will ihave to do all of them one at a time.

I have always used gotox on my dreambox and it has always worked fine. You need to make sure that your lat/lon are correct otherwise your position will be wrong.

got my lat and long off multimap.if its like 53.242 west should you round it up?there are boxes on gotox page for three figures after the decimal point.

just use the same figures ,make sure you have the correct settings as in east /west

thanks for your help,but i just cant get it to work.been out and bought a compass found south,checked my elevation on the moteor set the dish elevaton,all seems correct ive double checkeed the pole is level.the motor is set to zero and the dish looks pretty verical its pointing due south.i mcome back inside set my long and lat then pick 0.8west,choose drive dish to sat press go and the dish does nothing.moved it manually then used beeper to get best signal still the dish wont track anything.it really gets to you this sat stuff.

You got cable from receiver to motor then motor to receiver yes?

yes, motor moves if i press the button and it all lights up.i have started again by setting dish to due south then moved the motor via the manual button slightly to the west lined it up by eye using satpointer then fine tuned with sat metre,got a good strong signal am now doing a scan for just thor0.8west.

well guys can hardly believe it but ive done it,or should i say weve done it.so thanks to all for your help i really appreciate it.couldnt get anything to work starting at 0.8w,so just out of desperation i moved dish by eye to sky and it worked,once i had sky locked the gotox function worked great and it found loads of stuff.just having a play now with what i have got could take a while i seem to have about 3000 channels and counting.just need to learn how to sort channels bouqets etc.so once again a big thanks to all.

your not wrong,im smiling like the cheshire cat.going to try and find out what keys do,someone told me about satankeys or something like that.more research.
