I am not sure if the dreambox will recognise it no harm in trying.

Rapidly going bald on this one! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated please.
I've put in my .tbz2 into the /tmp folder to upgrade to Evocamd 2.17 but it is not recognised in the addon manager, even though it states that it is looking in the /tmp folder for addons. Am I going wrong somewhere? do I need to put the .tbz2 file elsewhere to upgrade.
      Many Thankz

I never bother doings cams manually, it is much easier downloading them from the image server and installing them automatically. What image are you using?

I'm using the kaos v1.1 image. I went to the software update page but it doesn't connect to this site.

Does your box connect to the internet?

I tried to but it just says cannot resolve host address, even though it's connected to my router and I'm using FTP on it.

You cannot download anything like cams or plugins from any of the image servers because your box cannot to the internet. Your box is set up to talk to your home network and nothing outside. You need to check your network setting on your box. Devilfish has sticky for connecting a dreambox to the internet sort that out and you will be able to download everything directly of the internet to your box.
