can't flash DM 500-s

    Does your null modem cable have a USB connection at one end as I have seen people have problems with those modems.

            yes, as a matter of fact our null modem cable does have USB at one end. This could be the problem? What should we use instead?

                a further piece of info.... when I ping again in dreamup immediately after receiving the verification that the box is 'speaking to us', the ping fails:

                9:10:03 PM box type: DM500
                9:10:11 PM Ping result: OK, box is alive and speaking to us ;-)
                9:10:20 PM Ping result: NOT OK!!!

                    I do not know what you have a problem. Take advantage of this program DreamUp. Remember the earlier options - delete the first flash. Before you run the program, start erasing including tuner and an arrow to the top.
                    How do I show to boot, then release the arrow.

                        try a different null cable, male/female connection rather than usb.

                                This could be the problem. I had trouble flashing using a cable with a usb connection. You need this type DB9 Female DB9F 9 Pin RS232 Serial Null Modem 2m Cable buy online from Qfonic Technology (UK)

                                            Have you tried a different version of dream up there is one on the forum with a patch in it which worked for me when my black box wouldn't flash.
