Box not finding channels

I am new so please be nice.

I have been reading up but i am confused to ~~~~ and think i am missing something basic/n00b.

I have an OpenMedia 500CS box and cable is now dead in my area, so i want to use the sat tuner.

I have DK 1.1 running on it and it starts fine. I have the box connected to my s*y dish on a spare LNB port.

I have set the box to use 28.2e but when i do a scan it does not seem to find anything. It appears to be seeing sats and the signal is good.

Am i missing something completely n00b, i am just trying to get something through it to start with before i give up.

Only want the thing to pick up something when we are away in the caravan so FTV will do...

Any pointers.

are you using a cable image on the sat tuner, you need a satellite image ,have a look in my signature area there are 2 links one for cable one for satellite.

No mate, i have the sat image running and it appears to be seeing the sat signal.

There is a lock checkbox under the signal meter display should i be checking that....?

I am probably struggling with this because i do not know what i expect to see...!

it should tell you a valid transponder has been found and lock should be ticked . you should have about 90% snr and about 90% agc ,and both of them should have a tick on lock and sync.
