    Sky as freeview

Hi Guys I have a dm500s that I want to set up as a freeview box for my mum, she has a old sky static dish, not being used to sat, do I just flash any image (apart from gemini ) and search 28.2 east, do I need to download any cams or sat.xml like I say it's not for cs or anything just the channels on freeview.

    cheers

I would like to say that I use my DM 500s just for free to air , and it is sad that I can,t get Five usa or fiver. Is there any advise if is possible to get them. I tried to get into the card sharing bussiness but I had to give it up after a few weeks of futile effort to get it right Thanks tassos

Yeah you need the card for them few freeview chnls that sky blockout.. as they are uk only chnls I believe

They are localized to UK under license and sky controls this localizing through the card.. so you just cant get a sat receiver and point a dish at 28.2 and scan and watch them in another country for that matter..

Same way some UK channels "iplayers" on the net only work when an IP from UK is detected....Something like that....

If you really want 5 usa and the others, it is ?20 one off payment for a new white card.
