    TV picture keeps changing

    Hi

I have DM500S connected to TV(non HD) through SCART cable, the problem I have is if I try choose any one of the 5 FTA channels on TV (like BBC, ITV ..etc) the picture on TV keeps changing to do a cycle thrugh the inputs (Antenna, AV, Scart, Scart 2 ..etc) and only settle if I put the DM500S on stand by. This is annoying, I know I can watch the 5 FTA channels using DM500s but is there any way to fix this?
The problem disappers if I use the (red, white and yellow) cables to cnnect the recevier to the TV instead of the scart cable but the picture using the scart is better.
I am using Dark Star 2 image and AV settings on the reciever are RGB - 16:9

I had this prob also.. its something to do with the scart lead your using as some scarts use a power on detect pin that when the device its plug into get turned on it will detect this and auto switch the tv to that channel

You can break the pin off the scart wire if you look at a scart pinout diagram, this should stop the scart lead being able to control and switch channels over on your tv but will mean you will need to manuall turn the tv over to your scart channel eveyrtime you turn your dreambox on

And yeah your right about RGB scart being better than composite, especially on the dreambox RGB pictures are so good.. I went down that road too until I sorted it

Your mate probably used a scart that didnt have that pin or he used a different video connection... my box used to constantly switch over then back ever couple of minutes and sometimes 3-4 times ever 10 seconds.. I thought someone next door had some type of super duper remote that was effecting my tv until I found out about the power switch pin

when I asked my mates if they ever had the prob they all said no.. then a guy was in my house and I mentioned it and he took the scart from the back of the tv and snapped the power pin out and it never happened again

My TV is Phillips, I will try it when I am at home. Hopefully I will break the right pin or I will end throwing the lead to the bin.
          Thanks

I don't know which pin has the power on detect, I found this link which describes each pin's function but it does not say which is the pin with power on detect, any advice?

I thought it was pin 8, but might be wrong.

Thats must be it, like Maniac01 says... I checked that link and if you scroll down near the bottom of the page it shows the scart as if holding it in that way towards you(the top diagram must be from the back of the TVs holes layout if Im not mistaken) and as you can see pin 8 is the powered switch function

It also coincidentally has a paragraph about that problem with the av switch function.. but they say to snip both off each end... do that just incase

21?... looks like 21 is the long metal thing that surrounds the other pins, it says on that site that 21 is ground... and that makes sense as those things usually are ground

Not saying your wrong... but pin 8 looks about right, especially being labeled 12v function swtching.. and also the paragraph near the bottom of the page in that link explains how to stop the scart changing AV channels says about pin 8 also

I fixed it now, yes it is pin 8 on the scart side connected to the receiver. Thanks all for your feedback.
