How to connect DM500 to dial-up using cross cable

Is it possible to connect DM500 to the internet using crosscable and dial-up connection?
How would I know if its properly connected?

The dm500 doesn't have a modem connection, only ethernet. So you would need to have a router.

What dial up internet do you have? Most connections these days can be replaced with an aftermarket router which allows extra devices, i.e. other PCs, Xbox, Laptop, Dreambox, etc. to be connected and to share the one internet connection.
