When is a dreambox 500s Dead ?

Can we draw the line between a bad flashed dreambox and a Dead one ?
Please can the experts provide me with answers to this Question.?
What are the symptoms of a DEAD Dreambox before I or anyone having the same problem goes for the JTAG.

Reasons >. I have got a dreambox 500s up until 2-days ago all was working fine and then it frooze. I rebooted the box but had no image on screen. I later flashed the box thinking it was the image yet no screen image after that. I can still connect with Dreamup.
The green light is and the box does not respond to any remote button.
Is this box then DEAD ?

yes you need to reflash the receiver it will work if is aclone one avoid gemini images they are bomb inside

gemini 4.2 is fine, i think all of the later versions may be a bit dodgy. Try a few different images to see if it comes back to life. Pli jade or edg nemesis are pretty good. My clone dm500s sometimes has problems with nabilo darkstar.

I have flash this again with images like PB_enigma, pli-jade and pod41 Darkside and also DK.. This has been to no avail.

On flashing every time i get flashed complete. On rebooting after flash i still cannot get any live on this box. Green light is still ON . No functions from Remote. TV screen no sign of any image load.
Should i flash this box then with Gemini 4.2 as suggested by DEFFCON and Andersjay ?

Double check your hardware connections. It happened to me.

check your connection to the TV. Went nutts over a similar issue with a 500-S unit and spent 3 hours untill i found that the composite connector was bad!

Also, reflash to original state with a DMM image for the box. My only other view is that the unit got flashed with a driver not meant for that model. On bootup, it can't load it and freezes.

Is this a new problem that's occurring,for i have still not been able to resolve after all the suggestions supplied which i am absolutely grateful. Has any other person had this problem before ? If so how was it resolved ?

i have the same problem and i want to know if itis dead or not
i can connect only by dream up and it said that box is alive and speaking to us

but when i reboot i see only green led on ,but remote doesnt change anything, with dcc i control for ip of dreambox and dcc doesnt find dreambox.
what need to do??

maybee a dodgy power supply, realy common to be at fault on these, you may still get the green led but not enough power to run the box.

also another common one is the ribbon cable inside the dm500 comes loose inside, take the cover off and try pushing the ribbon cable for the remote pick up back on.

Check done.. Power supplied checked and another used.. No sucess
Check ribbon too. . All's ok
Notwithstanding that would not affect the system when its rebooting. At least the most be an image on the TV screen even it remote does not work
The issue here is,would jtag be an option ?
Or should i ask what symptoms would need a jtag ?

Hello All,
I'm facing the same problem I reboot I see only green led on and blue one on (network), but remote doesnt change anything and also no imagem on tv set.
I tried to reflash several times with dreamup, sometime, I got CRC error in end, sometime not, but anyway after reboot the DM is still not responding and no image on tv set, only green led on and blue one one.
Someone could help us to diagnostic this fail?? We need to reflash with jtag solution??
